Mt. Hood Swim
Lessons
This level is designed to introduce young swimmers to the sport
of swimming. Emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals of the
four competitive strokes by means of drills and games that make
swimming fun. Schedule 1-2 lessons per
week.
White
Team
This
group is for swimmers who can properly perform the four stroke
techniques. Swimmers will be working harder and will need plenty of
family encouragement. Swimmers begin to participate in meets at
this point and begin to see rewards for their objective. Training
schedule: 3 practices per week, plus inter-squad, and dual meets.
Red Team
This
group is a transitional level in which swimmers move from primarily
stroke instruction to actual competitive training. Careful
attention is given to stroke technique, but an equal emphasis
begins to be placed on learning how to train. Regular attendance is strongly encouraged in
order to achieve the maximum benefit from training. Training
schedule: 5 practices per week plus inter-squad, dual,
and invitational meets.
Gold Team
This team
constitutes the first level of the Mt. Hood program at which
training is emphasized. Swimmers at this level are provided a
strong conditioning background that will prepare them to compete at
the higher level of United States Swimming. This team provides
committed and motivated young swimmers with an opportunity to train
seriously and set goals for State and Regional competitions.
Training schedule: 5-6 practices per week, plus a
comprehensive meet schedule.
Senior I
Team
This
group is an introduction to our Senior team, MHA’s highest
level. Swimmers practices are in conjunction with the Senior
team at the Mt. Hood Community College, while maintaining a
training and meet schedule similar to the Gold Team.
Training schedule: 5-7 practices per week, plus a
comprehensive meet schedule.
Senior III
Team
This
group is the highest level within the MHA structure. Swimmers with
the necessary background, talent, and desire are provided an
individualized training program designed for success in Regional
and National level competitions. There are requirements set by the
Head Coach to join and remain on the Senior Team. Training
schedule: 8-11 practices per week.
