Volunteering is easy and MHA depends on its
volunteers! As a member of MHA, you are expected to contribute a
certain number of volunteer hours to help keep this team and the
swim meets, that we host, run effectively. Your time obligation
depends on your level of swimmer at the beginning of the year. If
you are able to help or are interested in learning about any of the
positions available, please do not hesitate to contact one of the
parent board members. Here are just some examples of areas that you
can help out in:
At Swim Meets:

Set up - Help with meet
preparation. Move
chairs, table, tents, etc.

Marshall - Supervise
swimmers from all teams during warm-ups. Be an extra pair of eyes
for the lifeguard.

Timer - Use stopwatch and
record times.

Runner - Collect timing
sheets and deliver them appropriate individuals.

Post - Post
results
-
Heat Sheet Sales - Sell
heat sheets at the beginning of the meet.

Bull Pen - Line up younger
swimmers and lead them to the correct starting blocks.

Head Timer - Start extra
watches in case one of timers did not get a good
start.

Hospitality - Help with
food preparation for coaches and/or officials. Deliver water/snacks to
timers.

Clerk of Course - Provides
information to coaches, checks in swimmers, etc.
The following positions do require some
training but are always in high demand and a great way to really be
a part of your child’s team.

Pool Rep - Communicate
changes in practices, maintain folders, provide assistance to the
coach.

Volunteer Tracking - record
volunteer hours.

Scrip - Coordinate, order
and deliver scrip.

Team Apparel - Order &
sell team merchandise.
Attend interclub meets with stock.

Officiating -
Stroke & Turn Judge, Electronic Timing Official, Starters &
Referees - These individuals make sure that a meet is run
fairly. Sanctioned
meets require that a certain number of officials are present.
