MHA Swimmers Excel at Jr Nationals

Colin Eaton and Abby Maricle did some very impressive swimming at Jr Nationals, held December 8-10 in Austin, Texas.

Abby turned in 3 personal bests, going 24.87 in the 50 free, 58.39 in the 100 fly and a whopping 11 second drop in the 200 fly, going 2:04.83, narrowly missing finals and within a second of the MHA club record. Abby also went a team leading 2:04.12 in the 200 backstroke.

Colin made 3 finals and set 2 new Oregon Swimming records with lifetime bests in 3 events. He placed 17th in the 50 free (20.32, new Oregon record), 11th in the 100 free (44.95, new Oregon record), and 10th in the 100 butterfly, going 48.50 (new MHA record and best time by over 2 seconds). Congratulations, Abby and Colin!

Winter & Emergency Closure Information

When Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) closes for weather or emergencies � they also close the pool. The college offers an alert via email and text that we would like everyone to sign up for.

Even if your primary pool is DD, Reynolds, or Barlow there are still functions that could be affected such as swim meets, inter club meets, all team practices and board meetings.

Here is the link to the MHCC website that explains the reasons the college might close and how to sign up for alerts.

We recommend you sign up with Flash Alert: www.FlashAlert.net to receive emails and texts for school closures - you can customize your alerts - sign up for alerts from MHCC and/or any other schools that participate in the program. Reynolds, Gresham/Barlow and David Douglas (via PPS) all offer alerts via the Flash Alert system. Please note that Reynolds, Gresham/Barlow and David Douglas pools may be still open for practice even if the school is closed. Check with your coaches.
